In the beginning of the quarantine, my fabric mask making started slowly but quickly became a flood of masks that I gave away to organizations in need as well as to anyone who agreed to pay it forward with donations to food pantries and other worthy causes.
Later, responding to a call for art masks led me to papier maché, a medium in which I could take on some of the more serious issues we confront as a nation, most often the focus of my work.
Let’s hope we can emerge from this chaotic historic moment, humbled by our exposed fault lines and with renewed resolve to create a more just and equitable society.
